Stem Splitter

Split a song into vocals, drums, bass and other instruments. Mute or lower any part, and download each stem on its own.

About the Stem Splitter

Stems are the separate parts of a song. Musicians use them to practice along without their own instrument, producers use them for remixes, and DJs use them for live edits.

SoundBench uses the Demucs AI model to create four stems on your device. Play them together, turn parts off, set their volumes, then export your mix or all four stems as separate files.

How to use the Stem Splitter

  1. Add a song.
  2. Click Split into stems. The AI model downloads once the first time (about 120 MB).
  3. Use the stem buttons and volume sliders to make your mix.
  4. Export your mix, or click Download all 4 stems.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make a drumless or bassless track?

Yes. Split the song, turn off Drums or Bass, and export. It is a great way to practice playing along.

Which stems do I get?

Vocals, drums, bass, and other instruments (guitars, keys, synths and everything else).

Are the stems the same length as the song?

Yes. Every stem starts at the same point, so they line up perfectly in any audio editor or DAW.
