AIFF to MP3 Converter

Turn AIFF files from Logic, GarageBand or a Mac CD rip into small MP3 files that play everywhere.

About the AIFF to MP3 Converter

AIFF is Apple's uncompressed audio format, the Mac counterpart of WAV. It sounds perfect but takes about 10 MB per minute, and many phones, cars and web players cannot open it.

Converting AIFF to MP3 makes each file roughly 80% smaller. Most browsers cannot decode AIFF on their own, so SoundBench loads its FFmpeg decoder for these files. Everything still happens on your device.

How to use the AIFF to MP3 Converter

  1. Drop your AIFF or AIF files onto the converter. MP3 is already selected.
  2. Keep 320 kbps for music, or choose 128 to 192 kbps for voice and demos.
  3. Click Convert and download the MP3 files, one by one or all at once.

Frequently asked questions

Is AIFF better quality than MP3?

Yes. AIFF is uncompressed and keeps every detail, while MP3 removes sounds you are unlikely to hear. At 320 kbps the difference is very hard to notice for most listeners.

Can I convert AIFC files?

Uncompressed AIFF and AIF files work best. Compressed AIFC variants are decoded with FFmpeg when possible.

Should I convert AIFF to MP3 or to FLAC?

Choose FLAC if you want to keep perfect quality at about half the size. Choose MP3 when you need the smallest files and the widest compatibility.
