MP3 to WAV Converter

Decode MP3 into uncompressed WAV for audio editors, DAWs, samplers and hardware that does not read MP3.

About the MP3 to WAV Converter

WAV is the standard uncompressed format used by audio editors, digital audio workstations, CD burning software and many samplers. Converting MP3 to WAV gives these programs a file they can open directly, with no decoding delay.

The WAV file will be about ten times larger than the MP3. It sounds the same as the MP3; converting does not add back detail removed by MP3 compression.

How to use the MP3 to WAV Converter

  1. Drop your MP3 files onto the converter. WAV is already selected.
  2. Choose 16-bit for CDs and general use, or 24-bit or 32-bit float for editing headroom.
  3. Click Convert to download the WAV files.

Frequently asked questions

Does MP3 to WAV improve sound quality?

No. The WAV is an exact copy of what the MP3 decoder produces. It is useful for compatibility and editing, not for better sound.

Which WAV bit depth should I choose?

16-bit is standard for CDs and playback. 24-bit or 32-bit float is better if you will apply effects or volume changes in an editor.
