FLAC to AAC Converter

Make FLAC albums iPhone-friendly by converting them to high-quality AAC M4A, with tags and artwork kept.

About the FLAC to AAC Converter

Apple Music does not import FLAC. AAC at 256 kbps is the same quality Apple uses for the iTunes Store and takes about a quarter of the space of FLAC.

If you want to keep every bit of quality on Apple devices, convert FLAC to ALAC instead. For phones with limited storage, AAC is the better choice.

How to use the FLAC to AAC Converter

  1. Drop your FLAC files onto the converter. AAC (M4A) is already selected.
  2. Keep 256 kbps, the iTunes Store quality, or go higher for extra headroom.
  3. Click Convert, then add the .m4a files to Apple Music.

Frequently asked questions

Should I use AAC or ALAC for FLAC files?

ALAC is lossless and keeps the exact FLAC audio but stays large. AAC 256 kbps is about 4 times smaller and sounds the same to most people.

Are tags and cover art kept?

Yes. Title, artist, album and embedded artwork are copied into the M4A file.
