Change Audio Speed

Change tempo from 0.25× to 3×. Keep the pitch locked for natural-sounding speech and music, or let it follow the speed like a turntable.

About the Change Speed

Slow down a song to learn it by ear, speed up a lecture or podcast, or make a nightcore or slowed version of a track. SoundBench changes the speed of any audio file from 0.25× to 3×.

With Keep original pitch on, SoundBench uses time-stretching (WSOLA) so voices do not sound like chipmunks. Turn it off for a classic tape or vinyl effect where pitch and speed change together.

How to use the Change Speed

  1. Add an audio file.
  2. Move the speed slider or pick a preset such as 0.75× or 1.5×.
  3. Choose whether to keep the original pitch, then play the preview.
  4. Choose a format and click Export.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a slowed or sped-up version of a song?

Turn off Keep original pitch. Lower speeds (0.8–0.9×) give the slowed sound; higher speeds (1.2–1.3×) give a nightcore style.

Can I change speed without changing pitch?

Yes. Keep original pitch is on by default and uses time-stretching to change only the tempo.
