About the Remove Background Music
Background music can make speech hard to understand, or stop you reusing a clip. This tool uses the Demucs AI model to separate the voice from the music, so you can keep only the speech.
It works with audio and video files. For a video, the soundtrack is extracted on your device and the cleaned voice is exported as audio.
How to use the Remove Background Music
- Add an audio or video file.
- Click Isolate vocals. The AI model downloads once the first time (about 40 MB).
- Listen to the voice-only result. You can also bring back a little of the music with the sliders.
- Export the audio.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work on videos?
Yes. MP4, MOV, WEBM and most other video files work. The result is an audio file with the voice only.
Can it remove noise as well as music?
It removes music and many steady background sounds, because it keeps only what sounds like a voice. Very loud noise right on top of the voice may remain.
Can I keep the music and remove the voice instead?
